First and foremost : HaPpY Easter! 🐣 🌸 I hope that you and yours are well.
This afternoon I have been enjoying creating a meditation for you, that I hope that you (or maybe someone that you know) will find beneficial if you struggle with physical discomfort or pain.
Just as we've been using the breath, sounds and mantras as a support for our meditations, inner experiences can be used as well. And this time we will use sensations.
In future meditations we'll practise using uncomfortable thoughts and emotions as well as a support. ("support" means that we are mindfully resting 25% of our awareness on that part of our sensory experience, another 25% is watchful that the first 25% stays there and 50% of our awareness is just spaciously resting in the present moment - if this is new to you, then I suggest listening to meditation 1 or 2 on this blog page)
Research shows that we perceive and experience pain differently and a big part of it is because of the narrative that we add.
In this mindfulness meditation we learn to observe the uncomfortable sensation, so that we can create the possibility of relating to our experience and ourselves in a new way.
Instead of loosing ourselves in a narrative and the following emotional response, we can rest our awareness, not on the part of the body where the pain is, but on the mind that is registering pain - on the 'noticing'. We can notice that we are noticing. This may sound a bit abstract, but don't just read about it here, try it out! - and practise it in the way that works best for you:)
If you continue to practise this (remember it's not a magical wand, it's a practise) you may find that it's much easier for you to dissociate from pain in your every day life and to rest more in your inherent peaceful and loving essence.
Disclaimer: if you are struggling with pain then you must of course see your GP.
As always if you would like help through hypnotherapy and NLP then you know where to find me:)
Lots of love
